The United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois is the United States district court whose jurisdiction comprises the following counties in Northern Illinois, divided into two divisions:
The eastern division includes: Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, La Salle, Lake, and Will counties. It has jurisdiction over Chicago and its suburbs and the city of Rockford. Its courts are held in Chicago at the Everett C. Dirksen Federal Building.
The western division includes: Boone, Carroll, De Kalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago. Its courts are held in Rockford at the US Courthouse located in Rockford.
