2008 Election locking

Judgepedia is a collaborative effort to provide information on judges, particularly as it relates to elections. In October 2008, Judgepedia experienced instances of vandalism on the site, not limited to but including blanking out of pages. This is extremely destructive and undermines the work of every Judgepedia contributor. Our locking policy (see "protected pages" in the article entitled How to contribute to Judgepedia and our page entitled Judgepedia:Blocking policy for more information) states that we will protect sensitive pages on the Thursday before an election. We deem this to be a critical defensive measure to prevent disruptive and destructive vandalism.

We acknowledge one limitation to this policy: there may be useful information that needs to be added to a protected page, or inaccurate information that needs to be corrected. Therefore, please contact Michael Tams, executive editor and Director of Judgepedia with any request to edit a protected page. Please be specific on the nature of the edit(s), and if you choose to contact Mike by e-mail, please provide your user name as well in your correspondence, if applicable. You can contact Michael Tams at mtams(at)samadamsalliance(dot)org or leave a message on his user talk page.

Mistaken identity

There are two Joseph Russos in Ohio; use special care when posting stories about them. This page is for Joseph D. Russo. There is also a "Joseph F. Russo" who had some troubles with the law. Michaeltams 09:51, 15 July 2008 (CDT)

7/15/08: Here's the story I deleted from this article. The source indicates it was Joseph F. Russo, and not the Russo that this article is about.

Judge Russo found guilty of disorderly conduct (March 12, 2008) Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Judge Joseph F. Russo pleaded no contest to charges of disorderly conduct stemming from a drunken argument he had with a girlfriend in July. Russo, 50, was initially charged in Rocky River Municipal Court with domestic violence after a neighbor of Russo's then-girlfriend, Jessica Vezina, called police about a disturbance. Russo left the home after the fight and was arrested at a Westlake hotel after police determined he was the aggressor. Visiting Judge Mary Grace Trimboli accepted the plea Monday, found Russo guilty and set a sentencing date for later this month. Russo faces up to 30 days in jail and a $250 fine. He said his attorney, Kevin Spellacy, advised him not to comment until after the sentencing. Russo and Vezina, 44, were both convicted of disorderly conduct in 2006 after a clerk noticed them fighting in the parking lot of a Westlake gas station at 3 a.m. Both were intoxicated. Vezina told police the couple had been at a wake for slain Cleveland police Detective Jonathan "A.J." Schroeder and then stopped at a restaurant for food and drinks, according to a police report. She told the officers that Russo had called her a "whore" and slapped her. Both were picked up at the station by relatives and later pleaded guilty to the misdemeanors and paid $100 fines. Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Administrator Ken Lusnia said that Russo was re-elected the court's administrative judge at the end of 2007 and that his plea has no impact on court business.[1]

Clearly, this was a case of mistaken identity. Michaeltams 09:53, 15 July 2008 (CDT)
