Biography
Judge Rothenberg received her undergraduate degree in English from the University of Miami in 1965 and her JD Degree from the University of Miami in 1968. She later earned an LL.M. degree from Georgetown University in 1973 and again (as part of a judges only program) from the University of Virginia Law School in 1998.
Legal Career
Judge Rothenberg was appointed to the Colorado Court of Appeals in 1990. Prior to this appointment, she served as a trial judge in the Denver District Court, 1979-1990, was a professor at Georgetown University School of Law, 1973-1975, and was in private practice of law, 1971-1973 and 1975-1979. She has also taught in law school programs at the University of Colorado and Denver University. She was admitted to Florida Bar in 1968; the District of Columbia Bar in 1970; and the Colorado Bar in 1970.[1]
Awards, Memberships and Civic Activities
Judge Rothenberg is an active member of the community and the bar association. She was president of the Colorado Women's Bar and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Denver Bar Association. She is also president of the Thompson G. Marsh Inn of Court, which promotes the goals of legal excellence, civility, professionalism, and ethics on a national and international level. She has participated regularly in speaking to non-legal groups, schools, and other community members on subjects of interest to them and to the Bar and teaches yearly at the educational program for Colorado judges.
