Judicial selection in Louisiana
From Judgepedia
All Louisiana judges (whether a part of the Supreme Court, Courts of Appeal, or District Courts) are elected via partisan election.
Elected Supreme Court and Court of Appeals judges serve an initial term of ten years; District Court judges serve an initial term of six years. Re-elected judges serve additional terms of the same length. [1]

Support for judicial elections
While opponents of judicial elections see some secret and nefarious connection with donors, a well-know Louisiana political commentator notes that, obviously:"The real effect of campaign contributions is to help elect candidates who share views with contributors rather than to cause a justice, once elected to a ten-year term, to reshape his or her judicial philosophy on a case-by-case basis in order to follow the money."[2]
