Judicial selection in Illinois

All Illinois judges (whether a part of the Supreme Court, Appellate Court, or Circuit Court) are elected via partisan election.

If elected, a judge for either the Supreme Court or a Court of Appeal will serve for a ten year term. Circuit court judges serve for an initial term of six years. Re-election terms are the same as initial election terms.[1]
