Judicial selection in Alabama
From Judgepedia
All Alabama judges (whether a part of the Supreme Court, Court of Civil Appeals, Court of Criminal Appeals, or a Circuit Court) are elected via Partisan election.
If elected, a judge for any of the above mentioned courts serves an initial term of six years. After the initial term, each judge stands for re-election to another six year term.[1]
Judicial nominating commissions are used to fill vacancies in Baldwin, Jefferson, Madison, Mobile, Talladega, and Tuscaloosa Counties. Each county determines the size, composition, and procedures for its nominating commission.[2]
