Judicial selection in Ohio

All first-term Ohio judges, whether for the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, or Court of Common Pleas, are chosen via non-partisan election--though primary elections are all partisan.

Judicial retention is based upon re-election.

Elected judges serve an initial term of six years; all re-elected terms are six years long, as well.
