The five justices of the Idaho Supreme Court must run for re-election every six years, in non-partisan statewide elections.
In 2008, two sitting justices ran for re-election:
- Warren Jones, who was unopposed.
- Joel Horton, who was challenged by John Bradbury.
The statewide vote took place on May 27, in conjunction with Idaho's presidential primary. Horton won re-election by an extremely narrow margin of 0.02%. The race was a generally genteel affair.[1],[2]
