Each of Colorado's 64 counties has a county court. County courts handle civil cases involving no more than $15,000, misdemeanor cases, felony advisements, bond setting, preliminary hearings, and traffic cases. County judges also issue search warrants as well as restraining orders in cases involving domestic violence arrest.[1]

Denver Courts

Denver's court system differs from others in the state, in part because Denver is both a city and a county.

The Denver County Court functions as a municipal as well as a county court and is paid for entirely by Denver taxes rather than by state taxes. Therefore, Denver County Court is not part of the state court system. Denver County Court judges are appointed by the mayor of the City of Denver.

Denver has the only separate juvenile court and separate probate court in the state. In other parts of Colorado, district courts handle juvenile and probate matters. The Denver juvenile and probate courts are state courts, along with the Denver District Court. Contact information for the Denver District Court, Denver Probate Court, or Denver Juvenile Court.[2]
